Senior Visual Communications Designer
I'm Schalonda, an artist and graphic designer with over 20 years of desktop publishing experience including page layout publications, conference materials, and print pieces that people are proud to hand to someone else.
These days my focus has turned to painting sacred geometry and writing about art, creativity, and the spiritual life in a weekly newsletter called Seeking the Sacred. Turns out they're not as different as they sound.
If you need someone who can bring clarity, care, and good design to your next project, I'd love to help.

About
I've always been drawn to things that bring order to complexity.
For years I worked behind the scenes designing books, investment decks, quarterly reports, and marketing materials. I learned how to organize information, sweat the details, and make sure everything was ready for print.
The corporate work was good. But it wasn't feeding the part of me that needed to make something from scratch. I picked up a pencil. Illustration first, then hand lettering, and eventually watercolor. Today I paint watercolor mandalas inspired by sacred geometry, write about creativity and the spiritual life in a weekly newsletter called Seeking the Sacred, and spend just as much time thinking about the relationship between nature and geometry as I do typography.
Whether I'm designing a 150-page annual report or painting a mandala, I'm really doing the same thing. I'm helping people slow down, understand something more clearly, or see it in a new way.
What I Do
Page layout, publications, and long-form documents that organize complex information cleanly and make it easy to read.
Annual reports, donor publications, and investment materials that make dense content feel considered and worth reading.
Programs, handouts, signage, and event packages that are ready to hold up in the room.
Collateral, presentation decks, and print production support for creative teams that need someone who simply gets things done.
How I Work
Before anything gets designed, I want to understand what the piece needs to do and who it's actually for.
No unnecessary complexity. The right hierarchy, the right spacing, the right file for print or screen.
Production-ready files, labeled and organized. No cleanup required on your end.
Get in Touch
I'm not a big agency, and I'm not trying to be. I work with a small number of organizations each year that value thoughtful design, clear communication, and someone who simply gets things done.
